Greeley & Stone, Publishers

Independent Social Issues Journalism

About Us

Greeley & Stone is an independent publisher that specializes in books that merge history with contemporary social issues. Our target audience tends to be college-educated liberals with a sense of social justice.

Our publishing program includes works that look at free expression and other Constitutional issues, social justice, the mass media, politics and government, labor and worker rights, the environment and energy, and animal rights.

The Editorial product is the core of Greeley & Stone. Unlike some major publishers, we sign a book solely upon the quality of the manuscript, and not on who the author is, that person's celebrity status, or the sales potential. However, once the book is under contract, Greeley & Stone, working with the author, initiates a vigorous promotion campaign that includes, but is not limited to, direct mail, media exposure, and author appearances. Working with the author we provide solid copyediting, proofreading, and design. We will sacrifice higher profits to create a book that meets the highest Editorial, Design, and Production standards. We apply state-of-the-art 21st century technology to the best of 19th century craftsmanship in publishing, focused upon the broad emergence of the use of media to expose quality literature and social justice on behalf of the people.

In keeping with our social activist philosophy, our full-time staff own a majority of the company.
